Literature Text

Thank you, Mister Rogers
Thank you for the neighborhood
And thank you for letting me be your neighbor
Thank you for the fish, and the food you fed them
Thank you for Picture Picture
Thank you for the trolley
Thank you for make-believe
Thank you for showing me how to roller skate
And to ride a bicycle
Thank you for showing me how they made my toothbrush
And how they make a piece of paper
Thank you for a fun time, when I was feeling sad
And a fun time when I wasn’t
But most of all, thank you for helping me believe
For giving me the confidence to keep trying
Thank you for showing me that all things are possible if I believe in myself
That I can do anything
That I can fly to that distant star
Or be the one that finds it
Or help others less fortunate
Or change my own fortunes, to be better than they are
Or defeat my afflictions
Or to pray that someone out there that I don’t even know may do the same
And that all I have to be is me, and I can be whatever I want to be
And for that gift, I am eternally grateful.
This is a tribute to world famous children's television show host Fred Rogers, whos death inspired the writting of this poem.

:tears:
It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood.
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
